Memorial Day Weekend was a great three days off!

Saturday our friend the long absent in body but forever present in spirit Vic called me up, and after he and Amy came over to say hi to Calvin, we headed over to the fancy but not too pricey Champagne Bistro for some dinner. Their chicken was pretty good, as was the lemon tart and multi chocolate desert. Afterwards was some old fashioned cutthroat pool, where I think I won one game. Good times yo.

Sunday I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean, which I liked, but still not as good as the first. The last hour was pretty cool with all the fighting amidst a maelstrom and Jack swinging on ropes. Plus, they showed Keira Knightley's leg near the end of the movie, which looked really hot and made the 2 hours and 45 minutes well worth it. Movie: A-, Keira Knightley's Leg: A+

Afterwards we had an Imus family barbecue on the Imus grill, which first required an emergency drive to Vons when we couldnt find any charcoal. But, we had some awesomely grilled steaks, ribs and chicken, plus costco potatoe salad, making for one of the best memorial day weekends in recent history.

First of all, after a measly two years, I got called to jury duty AGAIN. This time, I was lucky enough to not be one of the first people called during jury selection, so I got to just sit back and enjoy listening to other people talk about their lives. To tell the truth it actually wasnt too bad, and you'd be surprised how many people have funny stories to share in response to the question "Has anyone here ever suffered an injury that wasn't your fault?". Plus, it got me out of a going to lab for the day, and I have to say sitting with random people in a courtroom was more interesting than sitting with bacteria in the laboratory of infinite abyss and sorrow.

Secondly, I had dinner with our old friend in time from days long past and buried, Derek Wu. We enjoyed some good ole Fudruckers burgers while remembering the good ole days and discussing our diverging futures (derek heads to sweltering hot texas while i journey to snowy illinois). So here's a fond farewell to Mr. Derek Wu Who Is Never on AIM and Takes a Week to Respond to Facebook Wall Posts :P

Lastly, I saw Spider-Man 3 on opening weekend! The theater was packed full, which resulted in me sitting next to sarcastic asian teenagers who laughed whenever peter parker cried. Overall, I have to say its probably my favorite of the three movies, but ill probably have to see it again to make a final judgment. The thing that bugged me the most was Venom talking with Topher Grace's dorky voice. And the part when Spider-Man and Sandman look at each other all teary eyed and he goes "I forgive you!". Lame-ooo!
